Leadership Presence & Charismatic Leadership

Charismatic Leadership is a well-researched and discussed leadership theory. It’s easy to say that charismatic leaders attract followers, but how do we develop charisma. John Baldoni, professor at the Harvard Business School, recently explored the concept of leadership presence in an article for Fast Company. Leadership presence could be an unspoken element of charismatic leadership. Baldoni argues that presence is the ability to inspire people through authority and example — and it’s the ability that separates middle-of-the-road managers from true star performers, Baldoni argues. “Presence is projection not simply of power, but of sincerity, values and conviction,” he writes.
