shorts.001 | Can CEO Personality Affect Performance?

Introducing LeaderLab Shorts, a new series of short audio podcast focused on translating solid leadership research into practical application for leaders. In our first episode, Bret Simmons reviewed a very recent and well designed study that shows a CEO’s personality can affect the strategic flexibility of a company, which in turn can have a strong affect on the ROA, ROI, and ROS of the company. This study showed that high  conscientious in the CEO resulted in less strategic flexibility for the company, which had a negative impact on performance.

Bret L. Simmons, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Management in the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), where he teaches courses in organizational behavior, leadership, and personal branding to both undergraduate and MBA students. Bret blogs about leadership, followership, and social media at his website Positive Organizational Behavior.
